Hodder Valley 2010 Race Report:

Once out of the show field and across the valley road a group of strong front runners could be seen running all the way up the very steep first field and over the immediate sky-line en-route to Burn Fell. Helme Hill, Calder Valley, Wharfedale and Bowland vests could be identified in that group.
The Helm Hill runners Tom and Mark Addison reached the turn at Burn Fell trig point quicker than the race organisers and marshals had forecast, shadowed by a further three or four competitors.
Tom Addison displayed his talent ( and no doubt dedication to training ) by stopping the finish clock at 48 minutes 36 seconds. Mark Addison took second place with 49 minutes 59 seconds. Calder Valley Fell Runner’s Gavin Mulholland was third in 50.17. Fourth was seasoned campaigner Ted Mason ( Wharfedale) in 51.21.
First Veteran 40 (5th overall) was Clayton-le-Moors’ Dave Nuttall in 55.34
First Veteran 50 (10th overall) was Holmfirth’s Andy Hauser in 58.57
Helme Hill’s Shaun Addison was 6th Veteran 50 (25th overall) in 64.16
First Lady to finish was Dawn Atkins ( Chorley Harriers ) in 30th overall on 65.11 with mum Jan first / only Lady Veteran 60 in 80.32.
Special mention must be made of Ilkley runner Norman Bush who travelled over from Pateley Bridge to finish 35th overall in 66.06, our only Veteran 70 competitor!
Steve Cox & Ian Roberts ( race organisers ).
